The first snow of winter fall on a cold night with the northern lights.
The white snowflakes look like bright white stars against the dark blue and green sky.
The bare ground is frozen and partly covered with ice, the leaves are fallen and the branches on the trees are covered with a layer of white frost.
The painting is varnished with a satin varnish.
Small details of silver and gold give the painting an extra dimension and shine.
The sides are also painted.
